Protecting your Car's Value with Dryva

We all know that feeling of coming from the gym or the beach and having to figure out what to do before we hop in your car.  Should we change clothes, put down a towel, or hop in and pretend everything its all good?

Perhaps you’ve saved up and spent your hard earned money on your dream car, or maybe your driving you tried-and-true 10 years after you bought it.  Either way, you will want to ensure that you look after your investment.

It turns out, both sweat and water can have detrimental effects to your car seat’s upholstery.  Both cloth and leather seats can be affected by discoloration, smells, degradation, and most importantly – your car’s resell value.

According to HotCars.com, the interior condition ranks as a top 10 reason that can impact the resale value of the car.  See what they have to say:

“While the interior condition of a car typically ranks last in importance after mechanic and outside condition, this can still be a factor in the resale value of your car. Cars with dirty or damaged seat materials are often offered less. Other condition indicators like smoke smell or excessive stains lead to a decrease in value. Second hand buyers will often gravitate towards cars with excellent interior conditions as it indicates a level of care from the original owner.”1

How can Dryva’s Car Seat Towel help with this?  Let’s first take a further look -

Leather

Most car seat leather is treated with a protective layer that prevents liquids from being absorbed quickly. It’s sole purpose is to help prevent water from being absorbed, but can also provide a glossier look.  It allows for you to quickly clean up the leather when an accident occurs.

Since leather has hydrophilic properties, meaning it absorbs water, it is particularly prone it stains.  If water or a liquid is allowed to sit without being wiped off, it can be absorbed by your car seat.  Once dried, the leather may become stiff or distorted which could begin to rip the seams over time. Your seat may also acquire a musty odor, particularly if it is able to seep down to the foam cushion below.

Cloth

Everyone has been in their “friend’s” car that has stains all over there cloth seats.  With cloth seats, even the smallest amount of moisture can leave ugly stains.  Water stains cloth car seats because it contains dissolved minerals, including salts and acids.  Once the water evaporates, the minerals are left behind and can cause a yellow or brown stain.  Excessive moisture can cause mildew and leave a musty smell behind - not particularly impressive to your date or client.

Sweat

Leather is a sensitive material and can weaken when it is exposed to sweat.  Leather reacts negatively to acidity, particularly when it is too high.  The degradation will happen gradually as your seats are repeatedly exposed to acidic sweat.

We are all quite familiar with what people smell like after leaving the gym or going for a run.  Nobody wants to sit on top of or have to smell someone else’s booty stank.  The seatbelt is another place where sweat can infiltrate and cause a foul odor.

How can Dryva help?

The Dryva Car Seat Towel is designed and manufactured with premium microfiber that is extremely effective at absorbing water and moisture.  On the underside, a high-quality polyster layer provides a 100% waterproof barrier between you, your soggy bottom, and the car’s seats.  This prevents stains, odors and moisture from damaging your car’s seats.

Once you have used your Car Seat Towel and it needs to be cleaned, it is as simple as throwing it in the wash on a gentle cycle to have it come out looking and smelling great.
